The single biggest reason a Jelly Bra disappoints someone is not the bra. It is the size.
And there is a specific trap here: your Bugario size is not decided by your under bust alone. It is decided by your band and your cup together. Two women can both measure 34 inches under the bust and need different sizes, because one is a 34B and the other is a 34D.
So do not order by the letter on your current bra. Take two measurements. It takes ninety seconds, and it is the difference between a bra you love and a return.
Step 1: Measure Your Over Bust
Wrap a soft measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it level all the way around. Do not pull it tight - it should sit flat. Read the number in inches.
Step 2: Measure Your Under Bust
Wrap the tape directly underneath your bust, where the band of your bra sits. Snug, but not compressing. Check in a mirror that it is level at the back - a tape that slopes down behind you can add a full inch of error on its own. Breathe out normally and read the number in inches.
Now subtract: over bust minus under bust. That difference is what gives you your cup.
Step 3: Find Your Band Size
| Under Bust Measurement | Your Band Size |
|---|---|
| 27" - 29" | 32 |
| 29" - 31" | 34 |
| 31" - 33" | 36 |
| 33" - 35" | 38 |
| 35" - 37" | 40 |
| 37" - 39" | 42 |
| 39" - 41" | 44 |
Step 4: Find Your Cup Size
| Difference (Over Bust Minus Under Bust) | Your Cup |
|---|---|
| 3.5" - 4.5" | A |
| 4.5" - 5.5" | B |
| 5.5" - 6.5" | C |
| 6.5" - 7.5" | D |
| 7.5" - 8.5" | DD |
Landed exactly on a boundary? If your under bust is exactly 31", or your difference is exactly 5.5", take the larger of the two options. The fabric has stretch and will adjust down; it cannot adjust up.
Step 5: Look up Your Size
Find your band across the top and your cup down the side. Where they meet is the size to order.
| Cup \ Band | 32 | 34 | 36 | 38 | 40 | 42 | 44 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | - | S | M | L | - | - | - |
| B | S | S | M | L | XL | 2XL | 3XL |
| C | S | M | M | L | XL | 2XL | 3XL |
| D | S | M | L | XL | 2XL | 3XL | - |
| DD | S | M | L | XL | 2XL | 3XL | - |
The Same Chart, Written Out
If tables are hard to read on your phone, find your usual band-and-cup size in this list instead:
| Order this size | If you are | Under bust |
|---|---|---|
| S | 32B · 32C · 32D · 32DD · 34A · 34B | 27" - 31" |
| M | 34C · 34D · 34DD · 36A · 36B · 36C | 29" - 33" |
| L | 36D · 36DD · 38A · 38B · 38C | 31" - 35" |
| XL | 38D · 38DD · 40B · 40C | 33" - 37" |
| 2XL | 40D · 40DD · 42B · 42C | 35" - 39" |
| 3XL | 42D · 42DD · 44B · 44C | 37" - 41" |
Notice how the under bust ranges overlap. That is not an error - it is the point. A 36B is an M and a 36D is an L, on the same 36 band. The cup is what moves you up.
The one rule that catches most people out
Do not order by the letter on your current bra without measuring.
Bra sizing is not standardised across brands - a 34B in one label is a 36B in another, and the way cup difference is calculated varies too. If you order M because you have always "been an M", you are ordering on a number that may not describe your body any more.
On our chart, a 34B is an S. That surprises people, and it is exactly why the tape matters more than the memory.
Between Two Sizes? Size up.
This is the opposite of the advice for a wired bra, and there is a reason.
A Wired Bra needs a firm band, because the band and the wire together carry the weight - too loose and the whole structure fails. A jelly bra distributes support across the strip, the band and the side panels, and the fabric has real stretch. Sizing down to get a firmer band on a jelly bra mostly gets you compression and spillage, not more support.
Our own size chart carries the same guidance: if you are on the fuller side, or you land on a boundary between two sizes, take the larger one.
How to tell if the fit is right once it arrives
Put it on, fasten it on the loosest hook row, and check five things:
- The band should sit level all the way around and stay put when you raise your arms. If it rides up at the back, it is too big.
- You should fit two fingers under the band at the back. No more, no less.
- The jelly strip should sit flat against your ribcage along its whole length, with no gap at the centre and no digging at the sides.
- The cups should be smooth and full. Wrinkling at the top means the cup is too big. Spilling over the top or at the underarm means too small.
- Straps should not carry the weight. If you loosen them and everything drops, the band is doing nothing and you are a size too big.
Always start on the loosest hook row. Every bra stretches with wear - the extra rows exist so the bra lasts, not so you have somewhere to go on day one.
Common fit problems and what they mean
| What's happening | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Band rides up at the back | Band too loose | Tighten a hook row, or size down |
| Red marks under the bust | Band too tight | Loosen a row, or size up |
| Spilling over the cup top | Cup too small | Size up |
| Wrinkling or gapping at the cup top | Cup too big | Size down, or tighten straps slightly |
| Bulge at the underarm | Side panel not covering, usually too small | Size up |
| Straps sliding off shoulders | Straps too loose, or sloped shoulders | Tighten straps, or switch to criss-cross |
| Centre of the strip not sitting flat | Cup too small | Size up |
Plus size: 2XL and 3XL
Our range runs to 3XL, which covers 42D, 42DD, 44B and 44C - an under bust up to 41 inches. That is further than most of this category goes; plenty of jelly bra listings stop at XL entirely.
Two things matter more at these sizes, and neither of them is the jelly strip. Band width - a narrow band on a larger frame will ride up no matter how good the strip is. And hook rows - four rows distributes tension far better than two. Check both before you buy any jelly bra at 2XL or above. Fuller guide here: jelly bra for plus size, the 2XL and 3XL fit guide.
When this bra will not fit you well, honestly
We would rather tell you now than process the return:
- Under bust below 27" or above 41". Outside the range the bra is graded for.
- Cup difference above 8.5" - that is E, F and beyond. Our range tops out at DD. Above that, a properly fitted band-and-cup bra will support you better than any S-3XL system, ours included.
- A few specific combinations we do not currently offer: 32A, 40A, 42A, 44A, 44D and 44DD. If you land on one of those, write to support@bugario.in before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether the nearest size will work for you.
Frequently asked questions
What size jelly bra should I get if I wear 34B?
S. This surprises people, which is exactly why you should use the chart rather than assuming - on our sizing a 34B and a 32DD are both S, while a 34D is an M.
What size if I wear 36C?
M. A 36D, on the same band, is L.
What size if I wear 38B?
L. A 38D is XL.
What size if I wear 40C?
XL. A 40D is 2XL.
Why does my usual bra size map to a smaller letter here?
Because letter sizing compresses a two-number system into one, and every brand compresses it differently. Ours is graded to the chart above. Measure, then order.
Does the jelly bra stretch after a few wears?
Slightly, like any nylon-spandex bra. That is why you start on the loosest hook row.
Can I exchange if the size is wrong?
Yes - 7-day easy exchange across India. Keep the tags on and the packaging.
Is the JellyLift Curve sized the same way?
Same S to 3XL system, with wider bands and fuller-coverage cups. If you are between sizes or shopping at the upper end of the range, the Curve is usually the better starting point.
I don't have a measuring tape - what do I do?
Use a length of string or a phone charging cable, mark where the ends meet, then measure the marked length against a ruler. Less elegant, same result.
